Shweta Bachchan Nanda was the showstopper for the launch of Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s new collection, Enchanted.
No matter how big, beautiful and successful a girl grows, she will always be a little girl for her father. The pride and adulation for daughter Shweta Nanda was evident in the way her father Amitabh Bachchan grinned away and clicked photos of her on the ramp, as she walked the runway for designer-duo Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla.
At a special show held in Mumbai on November 4 at The Grand Hyatt, the designer unveiled their new international western fashion line called ‘Khosla Jani’ that “is a passionate experiment in design by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. From off the rack to custom, it is quite simply, Ultimate Couture.”
The show included a range of sexy and dramatic ensembles for men and women, most notably the golden wing sequins cape, worn with a studded bralet top by model Jesse Randhawa. Other looks included lehengas with mirror work, gowns with plunging mesh necklines, assymetrical skirts with layers of flouncy fabric and psychedelic printed dresses for women. It should come as no surprise when Bolyywood’s take their pick from the gold range and parade it on the red carpet very soon.
Meanwhile, the men were treated to net overcoats with velvet lapels, trousers above the ankles and kurta shirts with embroidered insects hanging on to muscular torsos. Of course, the showstopper for the evening was Shweta Nanda and she enjoyed her moment in the klieg lights wearing a silver-white beaded gown with an attached feather floor-length cape. A matching feather headgear and wavy hair completed her look, yet it was the confidence with which Nanda – who is not an actress herself, even though she belongs to B’wood’s first family – carried herself and did a small performance on stage.
The Bachchans were in attendance, including sister-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Big B has posted Shweta’s photos on Facebook with the caption, “The most beautiful daughter in the whole world, Shweta, walks the ramp for Khosla Jani International .. a very very proud Father.”
